The second tennis Grand Slam of the 2014 season is still months away, but several of the sport’s biggest stars have traveled to Dubai to put on a show for the fans and hopefully come away with the top prize in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship.

With names like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro all gracing the court in Dubai, it’s sure to be a tough competition that could have a familiar face atop the leaderboard at the end.

Though it may not mean as much as other major tournaments like the French Open taking place in May, players will still be going all out trying to stake their claim as the top athletes in the world.

Federer has an impressive record in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships as the Swiss star has won it in five occasions so far. The 32-year-old won the competition last time in 2012 and will be looking to extend the tally this year.

The fourth-seed, who has won this title five times, won his 40th match at the Dubai Championships with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic.

Federer made a slow start, falling behind 2-0 but quickly rebounded by winning the next six games. In the second set, Federer broke serve in the third and fifth games. He will now face Serbian Novak Djokovic in the semi-final.

The Serbian however, has beaten Federer in their last three matches, and nine of their last 12 meetings. Tennis bets online at william hill suggest that Djokovic will win this one and is the odds on favourite to win the tournament at 1/2.
