Sandro Dias - Action

The world is becoming smaller and smaller, which is incredible news for skateboarders to connect,

collaborate, and be exposed to some of the greatest events on the planet. For fans out there, it has

never been easier to travel the world, so if you are tired of going down to the same old events and

skate park, here are 5 events you will not only want to watch in the 2014, but you will want to be

there.

Red Bull Skate Generation, 6 April 2014, Florianopolis, Brazil.

Plenty of excitement surrounding this event in Brazil after last year brought out the big guns- Hosoi,

Salba, Hassan, Ventura, and the hometown bony Pedro Barro’s. Expect to see some surprises with a

unique format; four categories will compete against each other: am, pro, master and legend. Then,

mixed teams made up of one person from every category will battle it out for the crown.

Far’N High Skateboarding World Cup, 29 May- 1 June 2014, Paris, France.

Expect to see an international spectacle with the likes of Brazil’s Felipe Gustavo, Japan’s Ryo Seijiri,

and Argentina’s Milton Martinez battling it out in the city of love. With a course design that changes

every year, the Far’n High contest has proved itself to be every bit world class over the last seven

years. It will no doubt be exciting to see what course layouts the organisers come up with as they

play around with the French influence.

The Cha Cha Lounge Independent Skateboard Film Festival, June 3-5, 2014, Los Angeles, USA.

Ever since the documentary Dogtown and the Z-Boys smashed into the film industry, winning

an award at the Sundance Film Festival, there has been a healthy mainstream exposure for the

skateboard scene. The culture and attitude of the Zephyr skateboarding team that produced the

iconic Z-Flex Skateboards is something that the Independent

Skateboard Film Festival hosted by the Cha Cha Lounge in Los Angeles is passionate about preserving

and promoting. Admission to the even is free and entries are open to all ages. Expect nothing but

the best with the illustrious judging panel of Atiba Jefferson, Don ‘Nuge’ Nquyen and Tobin Yelland,

the 3-night festival runs June 3-5, 2014

X Games, June 6-8 2014, Austin, USA.

One of the hippest cities in America will play host to the world’s best riders and make history with

the four different competitive disciplines for both men and women. Here is a taste of the action

you’ll see: The Vert will push gravity to its limits on this half-pipe; the Big Air, along with everything

else in Texas is said to be the biggest- skaters drop into a massive roll, then jump from a kicker, and

launch themselves into a quarter pipe to rock out their trick; the Skateboard Park with its bowls

and ramps is every bit a skaters dream; the Skateboard Street will be something you will not want

to miss, will the groovy Austin street style decked out with steps rails and ledges to set up a sure

spectacle. The 3 day X Games experience has numerous ticket options to make sure that you have an

experience you won’t ever forget.
